petarlo = triunfar, hacerlo genial. En el gym: ¡Has petado la clase! (= te ha salido increíble). In English: “to smash it / to nail it / to absolutely kill it (do amazingly well).”

Ojo: petar = “to crash” (a computer); petarlo = “to be a big success” (youth colloquial). The difference matters in context.

Cultural tip: sports and colloquial expressions are learned best in context, with real examples and choice-based games. Try using them with friends in Spain.

Comprehension check:

Empiezas la clase: 10 minutos de bici para ____ el cuerpo.
machacarse
poner a tono
reventarse
petarlo
Correct: poner (el cuerpo) a tono = to prepare/activate the body (warm-up, get it into shape). “Machacarse” = to train very hard; “reventarse” = to wear yourself out completely; “petarlo” = to smash it / be very successful.
Think “warm up / preparation,” not “kill yourself training.”
Hiciste HIIT sin parar y ahora no puedes con tu vida: “Me he ____”.
machacado
reventado
petado
puesto a tono
“Reventarse” = to be completely exhausted, to collapse from tiredness. “Machacarse” = to train very intensively (not necessarily to total exhaustion). “Poner a tono” = to prepare/warm up. “Petarlo” = to smash it / be very successful.
This one is about total exhaustion (agotamiento total).
Has levantado tu récord y la gente te aplaude: “¡Lo has ____!”
petado
machacado
reventado
puesto a tono
“Petarlo” is a colloquial verb meaning to achieve great success, to totally smash it. In the gym: the class or workout went amazingly well. “Machacarse” is about effort; “reventarse” about exhaustion; “poner a tono” about preparation.
This is about success, not tiredness.
