Farmacéutica: Hola, ¿qué te pasa?

Cliente: Estoy constipado, ando pachucho y estoy hecho polvo.

Farmacéutica: ¿Tienes tos o fiebre? ¿Andas con décimas?

Cliente: Tengo tos seca y un poco de mocos. Nada grave.

Farmacéutica: Te doy un jarabe y pastillas. Descansa y bebe agua.

Note (EN): In Spain, constipado = “to have a cold,” NOT “constipated.” Be careful with this false friend!

pachucho/pocho = a bit ill / under the weather; hecho polvo = very tired / exhausted. Estar malo = to be ill.

jarabe = cough syrup. In a pharmacy you might hear: “Tómate este jarabe, mano de santo” (literally “holy hand,” meaning “it works wonders”).
