Mini guide: talking about your dog in a colloquial way (B1). 4 useful words to sound natural in Spain.
mimar = to give affection, to look after with tenderness. Ex.: “A Luna la mimamos mucho”. (in Russian: баловать/нежно ухаживать)
achuchar = to hug/squeeze affectionately. Ex.: “¡Ven aquí, que te achucho!” (to a dog/cat).
vete = vet, veterinarian (colloquial). Ex.: “Mañana llevo al gato al vete”. Useful in chats with other pet owners.
bichillo = a small “bicho”, said affectionately for a mischievous animal. Ex.: “Este bichillo no para”.
Mini dialogue: —¿Sacas al perrete? —Sí, luego lo llevo al vete; está un poco pachucho. —Dale una chuche. (perrete/chuche/pachucho: colloquial)
Quick tip (for Russian speakers): mimar is about care/affection; achuchar is specifically about hugging/pressing someone close. Don’t mix them up: “achuchar al perro” ≠ “mimar” in all contexts.
More colloquial owner talk: “sacarlo a que haga sus cosas” (a euphemism for “go to the bathroom”). You’ll sound very natural in the park.
