Ser vs estar en informática: estados y características
Mini-quiz: ser/estar con adjetivos para hablar de estados del sistema y características permanentes.
Dannis
Quick rule: ser = stable traits; estar = states/result of a change. In IT: El sistema es estable vs Ahora el sistema está caído.

Seguro: ser seguro = safe/reliable (things). Estar seguro = to be sure/convinced (people). La red es segura; Estoy seguro de que todo va bien.

Lento: temporary state. La conexión está lenta (in Spain you’ll also hear: va lenta). Colloquial: Internet va a pedales.
Mental trick: “essence vs state.” For usual, inherent qualities use ser; for current system issues use estar.
Comprehension check:
Completa: “La red ___ segura.”
es
está
You need ser: ser seguro = “safe/reliable” (about things). Estar seguro = “to be sure” (about people). So: “La red es segura.”
Remember: ser seguro (safe) vs estar seguro (sure).
Elige la opción correcta: “Ahora la web ____ caída.”
está
es
hay
Here we’re talking about a state/result → use estar. “La web está caída” (= out of service). General rule: ser = characteristic, estar = state.
Think: is it a temporary state or a permanent trait?
Completa: “Mi conexión ____ lenta.”
está
es
Local, temporary state → estar: “Mi conexión está lenta”. In Spain you’ll also hear: “va lenta / va a pedales” (colloquial).
The current speed of the connection is a state, not an essence.
