Fichar = registrar tu hora de entrada/salida con tarjeta o app. In English: to clock in / clock out.
Entrada: cuando empiezas a trabajar. Salida: cuando terminas. Easy, right?
Horas extra: tiempo de trabajo adicional. In workplace slang: “echar horas extra” (to do overtime).
Jornada intensiva: trabajo seguido, sin pausa larga; se sale antes. Key vocabulary: “jornada intensiva/partida”.
Jornada partida: dos bloques de trabajo con pausa larga al mediodía; se sale más tarde.
Mini-diálogo: —Hoy ficho a las 9. —Yo hago horas extra. —Mañana tenemos jornada intensiva, ¡salimos antes!
Culture note: in Spain there’s a lot of debate about working hours and work–life balance (“conciliación”). That’s why you’ll often hear “jornada intensiva/partida”.
