NIE = número. Es tu código de extranjero para trámites (banco, contratos). No es una tarjeta. Piensa en algo como un tax ID / personal ID number.

TIE = tarjeta con foto. Es el carné de residencia para personas de fuera de la UE (más de 6 meses). Lleva tu NIE impreso.

NIE verde = certificado de registro de ciudadano de la UE. Es un papel o tarjeta verde sin foto. No es la TIE.

¿Cuándo se usan? - Para identificarte en trámites: NIE. - Para vivir legalmente si no eres de la UE: TIE. - Si eres de la UE: certificado (NIE verde).

Resguardo = papel provisional que demuestra que presentaste la solicitud. Guárdalo y úsalo con el pasaporte hasta recoger la tarjeta.

Plazos: tras el visado o la entrada, tienes 30 días para pedir la TIE (toma de huellas). ¡No lo olvides!

Frases útiles: "Tengo cita para toma de huellas." "¿Dónde recojo la tarjeta?" "Aquí está el resguardo." "Vale" = OK (polite and simple).
